iWalk 2010, a unique race walking and charity event
Angsana Green, East Coast Park, 15 May 2010

More than 1000 participants came together for iWalk 2010 to walk, compete and raise funds for charity. Some objectives of this event included reviving a once-popular sport, Race-Walking, as well as to raise funds for the beneficiaries under the umbrella of Presbyterian Community Services.
The iWalk 2010 featured several race categories: 5km Men’s and Women’s Open, 5km Men’s and Women’s Veteran and for the less competitive, a 3km Fun Walk. In line with the overall theme of getting people healthy and active, the event also featured a healthy cooking demonstration by well-known Chef Peter Chan, free flat feet awareness screening by 2Ft Orthotics, a Kettlebell workout demonstration by Energii and a Stretch ‘N’ Jump game for families by FamilyFun.sg. 20 lucky winners also went home with more than $100 worth of lucky draw prizes from Mizuno and Tefal. The event was graced by Minister of Manpower, Mr Gan Kim Yong.
